Encouraging Client Engagement: How to Support the Change Process | 1.5 CE Credits | $25

Do you find yourself feeling stuck or struggling to help clients make lasting, meaningful changes? Are client resistance or lack of progress affecting your confidence in the therapeutic process? This training is designed to help you break through those challenges!

We’ll begin by exploring how to identify and address client resistance, then dive into effective strategies from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches. By applying these evidence-based techniques, you’ll be better equipped to empower clients and guide them through the change process, boosting both their progress and your confidence as a clinician.

Objectives:
  1. Identify the signs of resistance in clients
  2. Understand and reframe the purpose of resistance in the therapeutic space
  3. Build awareness to our own views and challenges with resistance
  4. Learn principles and strategies to confront resistance and empower client engagement in the therapeutic process

Frannie Siegel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Clinical Director at AMK Counseling in Chicago, IL. Using a strengths based and client centered approach, Frannie works with clients to empower them to challenge their perspectives and work towards finding meaningful purpose in their lives. Her clinical experience and interests include working with clients who experience anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, comorbid conditions, executive functioning building and self- esteem concerns. Frannie specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and offers ACT-focused training and consultation.
