ACT for Adolescents | 2 CE Credits

This training will provide a comprehensive overview of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for working with adolescents in an individual outpatient therapy setting. Clinicians will review ACT core concepts and application to current challenges and clinical themes common within adolescent populations. This training will discuss assessment strategies and empirically based interventions from the ACT treatment modality. Participants will also gain an understanding of the possible challenges and barriers in ACT work with adolescents and increase their confidence through opportunities to practice in discussions and case vignettes.

Training Objectives:

  1. Review basic ACT concepts as it relates to the current challenges and clinical themes encountered in adolescence
  2. Learn assessment skills and evidence based interventions that are helpful for supporting adolescent needs, through the lens of ACT
  3. Discuss barriers and challenges for working with adolescents from the ACT lens
  4. Practice implementing the learned skills and techniques of ACT with adolescents

Presenters

Frannie Siegel, MSW, LCSW

Frannie Siegel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Lead Clinical Director at AMK Counseling in Chicago, IL. Using a strengths based and client centered approach, Frannie works with clients to empower them to challenge their perspectives and work towards finding meaningful purpose in their lives. Her clinical experience and interests include working with clients who experience anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, comorbid conditions, executive functioning building and self- esteem concerns. In addition to providing individual therapy, Frannie also offers individual and group supervision to clinicians. Frannie specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and offers ACT-focused trainings and consultations.
